Ocean-Mapping Satellite Decommissioned: NASA has decommissioned the satellite Jason-1 that has tracked rising sea levels over the last 11 years after its last transmitter failed, estimating that the satellite will remain in orbit for about another 1,000 years before it finally falls back to Earth.
